How a one-phone draw works

  1. 1Type the namesEveryone at the table, at least three. Mark couples or anyone who shouldn't draw each other, and set a spending limit if you like.
  2. 2DrawOne tap shuffles the names. Nobody draws themselves, and the pairs you marked are kept apart.
  3. 3Pass the phoneEach person taps their name, confirms it's really them, and unwraps who they're buying for while the others look away.
  4. 4Hide it, pass it onThey hide the name again and hand the phone to the next person, until everyone knows their match.

Nothing is sent anywhere

The names and the draw stay on this phone, in its browser, and are never sent to Giftruly. There's no account, no email and no app to install. “Start over” clears everything, and nobody, not even the person holding the phone, sees the whole draw.

Questions about drawing on one phone

How do we keep the names secret on a shared phone?

Only one name is ever on the screen. Before it appears, the phone asks “Are you…?” so the right person is holding it, and they hide it again before passing it on. Filming the reactions? Point the camera at faces, not the screen.

Can couples avoid drawing each other?

Yes. Under “Couples and no-go pairs”, tap two people who shouldn't draw each other, and the draw keeps them apart. Add as many pairs as you need, as long as a fair draw is still possible.

What if not everyone is in the same room?

Then start an online group instead: everyone joins from their own phone with a code, and the draw happens when you're ready. It's just as free, with wishlists and reminders.
